So long uncle Veletanlić Husein

This week me and my family suffered a tragic loss, my uncle Husejn has passed away after one week struggle in Banja Luka hospital.

He was a strong and energetic person, one who often visited his relatives and friends and used to help others a lot.

When we first came to Slovenia, he picked us up at the train station. We stayed with him and his family for about two years.

He always joked, you could never tell when he was joking or being serious. Even if he said something stupid or harsh, you could never hold it against him because he would always say something that would make you laugh in the end.

He was also very street smart. He was raised in the old ways and was introduced to the harsh reality of life at young age. Therefore he adapted to situations very fast. He used to tell me things about life which I discarded very fast thinking: "what the hell do you know old man", but he was mostly right on the spot.

On September 21st, he was returning home just as he would do every day. There is an unsecured railroad crossing about 30 meters from his home in town of Bosanski Novi(Novi Grad) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Right when he was about to cross it with his car, a train came and you know the rest. His view was obstructed by a truck that was parked next to the railroad. Doctors fought for his life but in the end he lost the battle. May Allah almighty forgive him for all his sins and grant him the passage into paradise.

We were very close so these were on of the hardest few weeks of my life. Daily visits to the hospital which was 90 kilometers away, bad roads and greedy doctors who wanted more and more money. All that takes it's toll. Now I'm back in Slovenia and trying to move on with my life.

I will miss you.
